De Paul Boys´ Home, Kayunga, Masaka

Using Fr. Anthony´s love for the poor, God inspired him to begin this charitable centre. On February 3, 2011 the construction of the boys´ home started and it was blessed and inaugurated on January 14, 2012. It consists of a dormitory, a refectory, a chapel, a study hall and rooms for staff. 50 boys of primary school age, coming from poor families are being looked after here, they get Catholic formation, attend a nearby school and are prepared to live a good life as they grow. Those who complete their stay in the boys´ home and perform well, are supported in their higher studies. This centre also provides pastoral care for the surrounding area.

Update May 2018

In the beginning of 2018 new boys were accepted into the Boys´ home, about half of the total number are newcomers. Having experience only devastating poverty, this home is like heaven for them. They get a place to stay, they get food, and they are admitted to school. On the other hand, their formation is not easy - they have to learn English, they study hard, they pray, they work - but they get their time to play or watch TV. In 2018 remote adoption of the boys was introduced (for more information please contact Stania, e-mail: anthony2010@seznam.cz).

There is a big plot around the house used for breeding animals and growing coffee. The coffee plants are big and the harvest is rich. The plants are watered by a sprinkler regularly, water is pumped from a swamp in the valley.

In March 2018 construction of a Marian grotto started and it will be blessed on June 17, 2018.
