Seeing the needs of the children, the Vincentians in Uvinza came up with the idea of a school and they started it in a room behind the church in January 2008. On March 6, 2008, just a few days before his death, Fr. Bill laid the foundation stone for the school building on a plot provided by local officials. It grew rapidly and in 2016 the first batch of 31 students graduated from their primary school with good grades. Now it has become a big campus with almost 400 students. Some of the students commute daily by school buses, others stay in the boarding hostels. The school tries to be self-sufficient by cultivating vegetable and fruits and by farming. Sweaters for children are made by local unemployed women in the school itself. The school maintains Catholic discipline and formation, while it is open to all denominations and religions.

By the help of God the De Paul Mission School is blossoming. About half of the children commute every day at half stay at school facilities. The pre-primary children wear blue uniforms, the primary ones wear burgundy colour. At the beginning of each semester a feast is organized where children participate actively. The school plot is big, nearly one hundred acres. More and more soil has been cultivated. Lately a big area of bush was turned into a sunflower field by three man without any machines.
